JEANEY GARCIA
Career
Jeaney’s professional career has spanned 30+ years as a coach, teacher, official,
administrator, and speaker. She is currently the Director of Athletics for Bosque
School where she received the 2023 Bound Athletic Director of Influence Award
representing the State of New Mexico, recognizing exceptional leadership and
significant impact on the lives of others.
Notably, she was the Director of Athletics at Punahou School in Honolulu, Hawaii,
where Sports Illustrated ranked the Buffs athletic program #1 in the United States.
Jeaney is a Positive Coaching certified presenter and has presented 500+
motivational workshops worldwide on effective performance since 1998 primarily
for Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) which originated at Stanford University.
Education
Jeaney’s educational background includes a B.S. in Exercise Science and Nutrition;
M.S. in Kinesiology, M.A.A. in Athletic Administration, and she is a Certified Master
Athletic Administrator (CMAA).
Coach
Jeaney has been honored as "Coach of the Year" for numerous schools and
organizations, including Sport for Understanding (SFU) based in Washington, D.C.,
where she was the National SFU coach for cross-country, basketball, and track and
field. She led the National SFU teams to seven successful tours in the countries of
Australia, France, Italy, the Netherlands, and New Zealand.
Pickleball
Jeaney is a USAP Ambassador, USAP Level II certified referee, and an IPTPA and PPR
certified teaching professional with an expertise in human movement and positive
coaching combined with a bright and positive enthusiasm. She has been a Selkirk
sponsored Senior Pro athlete since 2020.
Jeaney is the Pickleball Pro at Tanoan Country Club in Albuquerque. She has been
the Head Pickleball Pro for the City of Honolulu and the City of Los Angeles. In
Hawaii she was also the Head Pickleball Pro for The Pacific Club and continues to be
the guest pro whenever she is on island.
In LA, Jeaney taught classes via the Parks and Recreation program in the cities of
Granada Hills, Northridge, Encino, Tarzana, Woodland Hills, and El Segundo. As part
of that program, she organized and directed tournaments, robin robins, ladders,
clinics and other special pickleball events to grow the sport. Jeaney is also a twice a
year guest teaching pro at the Toscana Country Club in Indian Wells, CA. Participants
in her sessions regularly comment on the fun, exciting, and relevant instruction she
gives to improve their play, at all levels.
Jeaney has medaled with amazing partners in over 100 tournaments at the 4.5/5.0
and Senior Pro levels. Jeaney is the 12X World Senior Games Champion and earned
the bronze medal at the 2022 Margaritaville National Championships in Indian
Wells. Jeaney is the Founder and CEO of PickleballLYFE, a Pickleball travel endeavor
where she excitedly shares her love of pickleball and exploring the world!
Athlete
Jeaney’s love of sport is self-evident. She has competed as an athlete at all levels. Her
other athletics activities were:
- Nike sponsored Masters cross-country runner and Olympic Trials marathon runner
- Semi-Pro basketball player in Australia, France, and Los Angeles
- Midwest Sports sponsored triathlete
- Division I athlete Kansas State University, cross-country/track and basketball
- Captained five sports as varsity high school athlete in volleyball, cross-country,
basketball, track and field, and softball; inducted into the Leavenworth High School
Hall of Fame in 2000.
