KIM MIHAN

Kim Mihan has over 50 years of experience teaching racquet sports and is currently the Head Pickleball Pro at St. James Plantation in Southport, NC. A lifelong educator, she has coached and managed tennis and pickleball programs at resorts, country clubs, schools, and community programs worldwide, including France, Australia, Cuba, Vermont, and North Carolina.

Her teaching philosophy emphasizes strong fundamentals, efficient movement, and injury prevention, helping students of all ages—youth to seniors—enjoy the game and reach their personal goals.

Kim combines her passion for coaching with her background as a classroom teacher and literacy specialist to create a positive, supportive, and fun learning environment.

He attended the University of Illinois, was ranked number one as a freshman, and advanced to the finals of the Big Ten Championships. After college, Barry played professionally on the satellite tour in Europe and the United States. Following his professional tennis career, Barry returned to Florida to become the Director of Tennis at Casa Ybel on Sanibel Island.

Barry continued to play tennis tournaments and was ranked number one in Florida in the Men’s 25 and Men’s 30 divisi

For over 50 years, Kim Mihan has dedicated her career to teaching, coaching, and inspiring players of all ages in tennis and pickleball. Her journey began as a student and counselor-in-training with Ramey Tennis Schools and evolved into leadership roles as Director of Youth and Adult Camps, Head Tennis Professional, and most recently, Head Pickleball Professional.

Kim’s professional path has taken her across the globe—from teaching in France and Australia to managing programs in Vermont, Cuba, Louisiana, and North Carolina. She has worked with resorts, country clubs, and community programs while also serving as an elementary classroom teacher and literacy specialist. Her unique background blends instructional expertise with a lifelong commitment to education and personal growth.

Since 2019, Kim has served as Head Pickleball Pro at St. James Plantation in Southport, NC, where she develops and manages instruction, programming, and events. Her role includes scheduling, billing, budget preparation, and serving as Troon’s representative to the St. James Pickleball Association Board. She is known for her organizational skills, player development approach, and ability to foster fun, inclusive programming.

Kim’s teaching philosophy is rooted in building a strong athletic foundation. She emphasizes efficiency of movement, injury prevention, and long-term enjoyment of the sport. By helping players develop sound stroke patterns and tactical understanding, she empowers students ages 4–92 to grow their game and achieve their personal goals.
